We got our first kitty fosters in June/July 2014. We had no idea what we were getting into, but it turned out to get a great experience! The Manx kitties were about 4 weeks old and we got 2 girls and 1 boy. The 2 girls were short-tailed or no tailed and the boy had a full tail. Unfortunately, 1 of the little girls had a bad spinal birth defect that was not allowing her to grow and probably caused a lot of pain. She suffered from Mega Colon for a short time before she was allowed not to suffer any more. Her older brother and sister grew up to be strong and healthy kitties that were quickly adopted into their forever home once they were old enough.

    Amazing.
The very first cat we owned was a black Manx ( we called her Hendrix) we acquired as a kitten- just like this one, by the looks of it, and she too suffered with Mega Colon, (we initially thought she was simply suffering from constipation) something we only realised years later – but she disappeared from our garden a week after we got her- we presumed she was stolen – as she was too tiny to have wandered off on her own.

We have had cats for the past three decades; 21 at one stage, and people would ”offer” us cats on a regular basis.

One such, Alberto, was unceremoniously shoved through our front gate – we heard the young child running away up the street!
Another, Django, also a tiny kitten (ginger tom) we found trying to eat a pigeon in the middle of a road while we were out jogging one morning!
He is still alive and approaching 17!

We currently have four cats and three dogs.

    • 😦 I’m sorry to hear about Hendrix. Those little Manx Kitties can sure have great personalities. Thank you for sharing your experience with a Manx. I’m glad people recognize your love for cats & dogs and have offered some to ya! We have had 5 foster kitty (sometimes with momma) families so far. I need to get all their stories posted. Maybe I can do that this month. After volunteering at the Humane Society, I’ve learned just how badly people can treat their “pets”. It can be really sad, but there have been some great experiences too. Thank you for being a care giver to your 7!
